Willard Towers

Due to age-related corrosion in its hydronic piping, the Willard Apartments community experienced catastrophic leaks weekly. To remedy the situation, SageWater replaced 15 hydronic risers in a four-pipe system arrangement. The installation was challenging. The project scope did not allow SageWater to expand the size of the pipe chase even though the client specified 2” insulation wall thickness instead of the standard 1 ½”. In addition to the chase being too narrow, we found some of the floor penetrations inside the chase were too small. To complete the project successfully, SageWater obtained approval from one of the material manufacturers to make accommodations like staggering the pipe guides and compensators. We also chipped away concrete at several cored floor penetrations to make them larger. To conclude the project, our team of experts matched finishes and paint colors to seamlessly repair the drywall in each unit.
