SageWater faced a unique scenario with the 50-year-old Renaissance Towers in Hammond, Indiana. Along with aging cold-water copper pipes, the building also was experiencing leaks in its hot-water polypropylene pipes that had been installed more recently by another company. SageWater conducted a full replacement of both the copper and polypropylene potable water lines in the two 10-story buildings. This included installing new copper piping with ball valves for the larger individual risers in the lower-floor common areas, then transitioning to PEX piping for the remaining riser and unit piping of 2-1/2” or less. SageWater and the property managers ensured clear communications with building occupants, which include senior and disabled residents, to facilitate a smooth process and minimize inconveniences and disturbances.
